-

-
Includes literature on church music in the United States ranging from about 1960 to early 2004. Includes book-length monographs, bibliographies, collective biographies, selected dissertations, works lists, church and choral music journals, some journal articles, and Internet sites. Special emphasis is placed on studies relating to tradition, change, and conflict in American church music. General music reference works with significant information on American church music are included as well as some unpublished dissertations. Only English sources.
-
Divided into ten sections: General Music Reference; Church Music Reference; Church Music in Periodicals; Historical Studies; Regional Studies; Religious and Ethnic Groups; Church and Sacred Music Genres; Music Ministry; Tradition, Change, and Conflict; and Church and Worship Music Web Sites. Each section is divided alphabetically into several subsections (as many as forty-one). Within these subsections, entries are organized alphabetically by author and include a complete bibliographic citation and detailed annotation. The volume concludes with a subject index, an author index, and a title index. The author index alphabetically lists joint authors, contributors, and editors.
