Kimball, Will. Solo List. Kimball Trombone. http://kimballtrombone.com/byu-trombones/solo-checklist/ (accessed 13 December 2017).
-
Useful for trombone students to find new repertoire to practice and perform. Especially made for trombone performance majors at Brigham Young University.
-
Includes tenor and alto trombone literature fit for different levels of students. Pieces chosen from an article published by the International Trombone Association describing solo repertoire usage of different programs around the country, and Solos for the Student Trombonist, a combined annotated bibliography of solo trombone pieces. They were chosen based on difficulty level and common use.
-
The list is split into four categories: freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. Each year has a list of pieces underneath it, ordered by level of difficulty. The easier pieces come first, and the difficulty increases as you move down the list.
Each entry includes the composer's last name, piece title, and difficulty level (4-6). Most entries also include a few CDs of professional trombonists playing these pieces. When this is the case, the CD number and the name of the soloist and accompaniment are provided.
Some of the composer names and piece titles are written in bold. This is to indicate that the piece is required in the BYU trombone performance program. -
Under each year of the list (freshman, sophomore, etc.), it is not very clear how the pieces listed are organized, or what the criteria for selecting them were. Criteria insight gained from inquiring the creator of the list.
