Notendrucke des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts mit mehrstimmiger Musik in der BSB
-
With 2,356 printed music notations of the 16th and 17th centuries containing polyphonic vocal or instrumental music, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek possesses one of the largest holdings from the early period of printed music. It is based on the founding holdings of the Hofbibliothek der Bayerischen Herzöge in the 16th century and has been continuously extended in the following period. The printed music is listed in the international bibliography Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM). The older surviving printed music was mainly published in the form of vocal parts. In most cases, the BSB's holdings contain several different works (i.e. up to 20 different printed music) bound together in the form of an anthology for the same voice (e.g. cantus). The remaining printed music includes tablatures, chanson and hymn books as well as individual choral books, scores, single-sheet editions and theoretical works. (from the website)
