Denkmäler deutscher Tonkunst - 2. Folge: Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Bayern
-
From 1892 onwards, selected works from various epochs and genres by composers from the German-speaking world appeared in the series Denkmäler deutscher Tonkunst. The strict editorial guidelines of the Musikgeschichtliche Kommission (Music History Commission) provided for the greatest possible faithfulness to the source and reproduction of the original score arrangement. Founded and conceived by Adolf Sandberger (1864-1943), the second series of the 'Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Bayern' (Monuments of the Art of Music in Bavaria) was published as the second installment of the 'Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Bayern' (Monuments of the Art of Music in Bavaria): Between 1900 and 1930 the 30 volumes of this series, now digitized, were published, exclusively representing composers who lived and worked in the Bavarian region. Most of the works collected here are secular and sacred instrumental and vocal music from the 16th to the 18th century, including works for orchestra and stage as well as collections of concerts, chamber and organ music. Of the composers in this series, Raselius, Hassler, Steffani, Kerll, Pachelbel, Gluck, Traëtta, Rösler (Rosetti) and Leopold Mozart should be mentioned here as examples. The series was republished in a revised form from 1962 onwards, but our digitized version is the one published by Breitkopf & Härtel (vol. 1-20) and Filser & Co. (vol. 21-30) from the holdings of the music department of the BSB. The sheet music of the collection is recorded by OMR (Optical Music Recognition) and can be searched via the application musiconn.scoresearch. (from the website)
