There are 14 chapters in this book. Each chapter discusses a specific kind of blues, like piano blues and boogie woogie, southern crossovers, down-home post-war blues. Chapters are divided into two parts. 1) talks about the history of the blues. 2) cataloging of recordings made in that category of blues. Each entry in has names of songs, recording label, date and place when it was released and notes. Included at the end of the book is a list of CDs, cassettes, and records by label. There is also recommended reading and an index organized by name.
