Clough, Francis F., and G.J. Cuming. The World's Encyclopaedia of Recorded Music. London: Sidgwick and Jackson Ltd.,1966. Reprint, Westport, Connecticut: Greenwood Press, Publishers, 1970.
-
An encyclopedia covering a vast number of recordings made between 1925 and 1951.
-
The authors were inspired in their project by R.D. Darrell's Gramophone Shop Encyclopedia of Recorded Music published in 1936 and covering the years 1926-36. Clough and Cuming cover the years 1925 to 1951 in this comprehensive work. The authors admit to omitting several recordings of pieces that have been recorded extensively. As this resource was made in the 1950s many of the sources are LP records. The citations come from many countries around the world.
-
The work is organized alphabetically by composer. Entries contain birth and death dates and a brief works list. For each composition in the works list, a recording is provided, which includes the performer and record label number. Each volume concludes with a name index.

This resource is now quite out of date and incomplete.
