Selected works from the orchestral repertoire from the Baroque period to 2005. The selected composers are mainly from Europe and the U.S. with a few exceptions.

This book is alphabetical list of composers and their selected orchestral works. Each composer entry includes the dates and places of birth and death. Each composition entry includes the title, duration, instrumentation, and name of the publisher. Many are accompanied by a brief annotation that describes movements or different arrangements by the composer. The list is followed by eleven appendices including these topics: Chorus, Solo Voices, Solo Instruments, Orchestral Works Listed by Instrumentation, Orchestral Works Listed by Duration, Works Intended for Youth Concerts, Significant Anniversaries of Composers, and Composer Groups for Thematic Programming. There is also a list of publishers.
