Deutsch, Didier C., ed. Music Hound Soundtracks: The Essential Album Guide to Film, Television and Stage Music. With forewords by Lukas Kendall and Julia Michels. Detroit, San Francisco, London, Boston, and Woodbridge, Conneticut: Visible Ink Press, 2000.
-
A buyer's guide to musical soundtracks of film, television show or stage productions.
-
A buyer's guide containing reviews to more than 3,000 albums. This reference guide only gives discussion to CDs that are currently in print and available in the United Stated.
-
Music Hound Soundtracks begins with two informative forewords, an introduction, owner's manual, credits and acknowledgments. Following this, the reference guide is organized into three sections. 1.) The A-Z Guide to Soundtracks. This section organizes all entries alphabetically by album title and contains the reviews and bibliographical information of all entries and makes up the main body of the book. 2.) A Resources and Other Information section contains subsections under compilation albums; books, magazines, and newspapers, web sites, and record labels. 3.) Index. The index is organized into five sections: five-bone album, composer index, conductor index, lyricist index, and series index. This set of five indexes facilitates easier use of the reference guide. Important information given in each entry are: the title, source icon (indicating if the recording is from a film, television, or stage production), CD release year, and bone rating, album notes and credits for each particular recording, and a review, which is the meat of each entry.
-
Contains two informative forewords and an introduction, which clearly define the purpose of the reference guide. Grades each album according to the five bone rating system. The five-bone album index is a select list of the guide's highest rated soundtracks.
