Gombert, Gred, ed. A Guide to Native American Music Recordings. Fort Collins, Colorado: Multi Cultural Publishing, 1994.
-
To provide exposure to the Native American community, their composers, and musical tradition by delivering a reference source of their musical recordings.
-
The music listed in this book includes commercially available recordings of Native Americans from the United States and Canada.
-
The entire book is divided into three major categories: Traditional Tribal Music, Intertribal Music, and Crossover Music Styles. Within each of these categories, the entries are listed alphabetically by record company name, and then alphabetically by name of artist or title of the performing group. Further alphabetical headings are provided by tribe for some traditional and intertribal music. Each listing includes the song title, album title, label number, and the release date. This section is followed by a list of Record Companies and Distributors and an Index.
-
This discography is very specialized, which provides in-depth information on the available recordings.
