Goodfellow, William D. Where's That Tune?: An Index to Songs in Fakebooks. London and Metuchen, New Jersey: The Scarecrow Press Inc., 1990.
-
For locating songs published in fakebooks.
-
Indexes about 13,500 songs found in sixty-four fakebooks (from the collection of the Oak Lawn Public Library in Illinois). Song genres represented include Rock and Roll, movie music, country, Christian, children’s music, international, folk, jazz, contemporary and Broadway.
-
Three parts: (1) Fakebooks Indexed. A bibliography listed in alphabetical order of author-assigned accession code. Includes basic bibliographical information, as well as OCLC numbers, number of songs contained, printed song elements (melody line, chord symbols, lyrics, etc.) and special features. (2) Index of Titles. Lists fake books containing each song title. Alphabetical by song title. (3) Index of Composers. Lists indexed songs by each composer. Alphabetical by composer’s last name.
-
Songs listed in the Index of Composers do not include fakebook accession numbers. This necessitates the extra step of searching in the Index of Titles after finding a song in the Index of Composers in order to find fakebooks containing any song in the Index of Composers.
