Helpful for musical historians wanting to know more about the Western part of the world and those composers that were of importance for the classical music genre.
-
Coves major music milestones from 1751 to 1990 in the context of music and world history.
-
Done in two volumes stretching from 1751 to the twentieth century. The author worked to contain information that pertinent to all of the arts as each entry is presented in nine categories: A- Births, B-Deaths, C-Debuts, D-New Positions, E-Prizes/Honors, F-Biographical Highlights, G-Cultural Beginnings with additional sub categories, H- Musical Literature, and I-Musical Compositions. It then also includes a Compositional Index and Historical Index with contents listed alphabetically but only contains dates, no page numbers.
