A music bibliography of Indian music for the use of music scholars. Literature on Indian music appears every year in the form of concert reviews and general articles in newspapers, music journals, and general magazines, books and research theses. This bibliography is an organization of this information.

Covers publications in periodicals, literature and theses from 1970-1989. Selected review articles from five New Delhi based newspapers limited to the years 1988-1989. Covers aspects of Indian music, Hindustani music, Karnataka music, vocal music, instrumental music, sacred music, semi-classical and light music, musicology, and music education. Over 2500 bibliographical entries from about 150 journals and newspapers and 450 books.

Each category has several subcategories listed to clarify research. Citations within each subcategory are arranged alphabetically by author's name. A personal name index is included of all others cited in the bibliography.
