A catalogue of the compositions, arrangements and folk tunes collections of Ralph Vaughn Williams.

The main body of text is taken from the first appendix of the 1st edition (1964), and includes all known compositions, and arrangements, published and non-published, from 1878-1958. Also includes Vaughn Williams' folk song collection, and his own program notes about his works.

In several sections: Introduction, List of Works: main body of the text. Organized by year, then by title of work in chronological order. Folk-Songs collected by Vaughn Williams: Manuscript collection compiled from his notebooks. Arranged chronologically by year. Includes place collected, date, name of song, and original singers (if known). Bibliography of the Literary Writings of Vaughn Williams: Literary and scholarly writings; does not include letters to newspapers and popular periodicals. Alphabetical Index of Works: arranged by title. Index of Works: Organized by genre, then alphabetically by title. General Index. The Entries in the List of Works section include title, brief description (if not inherent in the title), premier date and location, publication information and/or location, dedication (if applicable), instrumentation, performance duration, and miscellaneous notes. For large scale instrumental works (such as symphonies), musical examples are included, outlining the major sections (movements) and their characteristics. For dramatic works, the original cast is listed with a synopsis for each scene.
