The types of publications used include books, journals, periodicals, essay collections, festschriften, and publications containing articles, films, encyclopedias, and discs. Most of the 1,319 sources are in Korean with some Japanese, Chinese, English, and European language sources as well. Some of the Korean sources come from before 1900, but most of the sources appear after the 1950s and 60s. There are a few publications that discuss Western music's influence in Korea; other sources discuss religious and folk music, folklore and customs, classical (traditional) dances, traditional drama and the mask dance play and some publications on Korean literature.
-
There are two main sections. One contains books, articles, and essays in Korean. The other section is the same, but in foreign languages. The last three sections in the book are three indexes: Index of names, Index of subjects, and Index of books, journals, etc. Entries include descriptive annotations, which are also fairly limited in their content because of political barriers (author unable to return to Korea to re-check sources).

This source is well-designed for English readers.
