-
To aid in finding recent pieces for solo voice and chamber instrumental ensemble.
-
Covers recent chamber music for solo voice and instrument written between 1960 and 1989. Only includes works that include less than 20 players. The accompaniment may consist of any combination of instruments, or even of only one instrument. This bibliography does not include works with an accompaniment of keyboard, guitar, harp, or electronic tape alone; excerpts from larger works like operas or oratorios unless they have been published separately; works with orchestra, chamber orchestra, or choral accompaniment; arrangements of pre-existing works; or works for solo voice and string orchestra that wouldn't work well for string quartet or quintet.
-
The text is divided into sections according to voice type: soprano, mezzo soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass, medium voice, countertenor and miscellaneous. Under each section pieces are listed in alphabetical order by composer and contain the composer's dates, title of work and date of composition, author and/or source of text, publisher, place of publication and catalog number, voice type and instruments required for performance, level of difficulty of the vocal and instrumental parts, vocal range, language of text, duration, and occasional comments. Four indexes are listed for composers, literary sources, music publishers and instruments.
-
Includes a diversity of styles and techniques, many including innovative percussion accompaniment. Criteria for this book are very specific.
