-
A catalogue of significant musical manuscripts on loan to the British Museum by the Royal Philharmonic Society of London as of 1914.
-
Includes all works loaned to the British Museum by the Royal Philharmonic Society of London, as of 1914. Most of the pieces written for the Society or performed by their composers are autograph manuscripts, while the music of composers such as Beethoven, Haydn, and Mendelssohn is primarily certified copies. Music loaned includes works by Beethoven, Cherubini, Cramer, Fémy, Haydn, Hofmann, Mendlssohn-Bartholdy, Moscheles, Neukomm, Pleyel, Potter, Reicha, Spohr, and Weber.
-
A table of contents is given for both composers and by classified genre (symphonies, overtures, etc.). Entries are alphabetical by composer. The library number of the Royal Philharmonic Society is given for each piece, along with specific information on the manuscript (whether autograph, corrections, etc.). General information about the year of composition, date of premiere, and first date of performance with the Society is given.
