-
A near-complete and annotated catalogue of original compositions for flute choir.
-
Includes 351 titles representing the work of 247 composers from North America, Europe, and Asia. All for five of more flutes (flute choir).
-
Preface covers methodology of the study, a key to difficulty levels, and a list of abbreviations used. Three exemplary works are analyzed in Chapter Two. Chapter Three is the annotated catalog, divided into fifteen categories. Each entry includes composer with birth/death dates, title, date of composition, movements, instrumentation, publication information or manuscript location, duration, difficulty level, composition background (first performance, commission, dedication, etc.), recordings available, National Flute Association call number (if applicable), miscellaneous information (program notes, publication comments, etc.), annotation, and brief composer biographies. Appendices list music sources (both publishers/distributors and suppliers/lending libraries) and NFA member flute clubs, choirs, and societies. An index of composers and an index of titles are included.
-
Perhaps the most extensive list of flute choir literature available.
