The collection focuses exclusively on wind instruments, although its primary emphasis is clarinets of all ranges from a 250-year period, hailing from all major instrument-making regions. Flutes, oboes, bassoons, basset horns, bagpipes, and French horns are also represented to a lesser extent.
-
The website begins with a description of the original print edition and opportunities to purchase it. The catalogue text follows, listing 23 categories of instruments in no apparrent order. Within categories, each entry lists an instrument’s serial number, a brief description, estimation of the date and origin, and a note on whether or not an illustration is included in the (printed) catalog.
-
Images of the instruments are not available online and can only be found in the print edition. The list of instruction books is also absent from the online version as well as the references section, Index of Makers’ and other Names and Serial Numbers, and the Index of Acquisition Numbers.
