-
The site is simple to use. The front page provides the site manager’s name. On the top-left corner of the page is a list of information provided. If you go to one of these links, for example “The Songs”, there are various ways of organizing. Usually the author of this site will provide information either alphabetically or chronologically. Under “The Songs” you can search all of the songs of Stephen Sondheim alphabetically by the first word. At the top of the page the author provides a key to their table, for example SS means that Stephen Sondheim wrote the music and lyrics to a song. Next to the song name the author provides the name of the show the song came from. You can click on the name of the show, since it is a hyperlink, and it will take you to “The Shows” page. Next to this box is where the short annotations are provided about the songs. This is where the author’s key is helpful. Other pages a listed chronologically. For example, “The Shows” page provides a list of the musicals first alphabetically. Once a show has been chosen you can search all the productions of this show by a chronological list provided at the top of the page.
-
The citations on the bibliography are not in any standard format. There are a lot of advertisements to buy different materials that have involved Sondheim, which can make the site look less credible than it is.
