Oron, Aryeh. Bach Cantatas Website. http://www.bach-cantatas.com (accessed 26 March 2011).
-
Developed with the purpose of providing and disseminating detailed information of the cantatas composed and chorales melodies used by Johann Sebastian Bach.
-
Includes entries for all the cantatas that are known to have been written by Bach, including those or which no musical score survives. Also contains entries for all the other choral works of Bach, including the chorales that were either harmonized by Bach or used in any of his instrumental pieces.
-
The home page contains tables with links that allows searching the cantatas and chorales by the following alphabetically or numerically (BWV catalog) organized lists: Lutheran Church Year, Readings, Texts and Translations, Scores and Music, References, Commentaries, BWV & Anh List, Chorale Texts and Chorale Melodies. Contains a discography of all of Bach’s cantatas, choral and instrumental works. All are organized by BWV catalog number. Also includes downloadable public domain scores organized by BWV number. Finally, it features biographies of performers reviewed in the discography, and of other composers relevant to the world of Johann Sebastian Bach. A search box powered by Google enables users to find any term within the site.
-
Because of the electronic nature of the source, all the words in the database are searchable. This feature could be useful in the case that the only term available while searching for a particular entry is the middle phrase or word of a choral or part of a cantata.
