Allows users to explore Wesleyan’s extensive world instrument collection via the internet, helping scholars and performers to become aware of the resource and showcasing to the public the look and sounds of a wide variety of world instruments.

Includes about half of the over 300 instruments in the physical collection. The collection emphasizes world instruments but does contain some traditional Western instruments.

Instruments are browsable by type, material, region, ensemble, or name. Links on the browse page take users to a page dedicated to the individual instrument. Instrument pages provide some of the following: images, audio, video, suggestions for further reading, physical description, history, method of tuning, technique, notation, country of origin, time period, classification, and local usage.
