“Maurice Duruflé Memories: A Dedication for Discography.” http://pseudo-poseidonios.net/durufle/ (Accessed 7 November 2011).
-
To provide a single source of information on the life and works of French composer and organist Maurice Duruflé.
-
This website includes a biographical timeline, works lists, discography of Duruflé’s complete organ music, discography of Omnibus organ music recordings, discographies of organ music reconstructed by Duruflé, and a select bibliography of books and websites. Discographies include both LPs and CD releases.
-
The homepage functions as an easily-understood, hyperlinked table of contents. Section A is a simple biographical timeline organized by year. Section B consists of Duruflé’s works list, organized by opus number and includes the title, a date reflecting either the publication or year of composition (never explicitly stated), and any dedications. Section C lists Duruflé’s recordings as an organist, listed alphabetically by the composer whose works are performed. Whenever possible, each entry includes the album title, record label and its disc number, date of performance, titles of the works performed, an image of the album cover, and other performers featured. Section D consists of ‘Complete Organ Music Recordings’. No immediately discernible method of organization is apparent. Each entry includes album title, record label and its disc number, titles of pieces performed, name of the performer, location of the performance, and an image of the album cover. Some entries also include additional information upon whether discs are available as CDs or LPs. Section E consists of ‘Omnibus Organ Music Recordings [Except Complete & Duruflé’s Recordings]’. Entries are grouped under the heading of the work performed. Beyond that, no discernible organizational method has been implemented. Entries include name of the organist, location of the organ, record label, and record number. Section F is a discography of organ music reconstructed by Duruflé, listed apparently in chronological order. Entries include album title, performers and their locations, titles performed, duration of performance, date, original disc label and number, and image of the album. Section G, a discography of choral music recordings, is under construction and is not yet available. Section H is an assortment of miscellaneous resources, such as links to other Maurice Duruflé websites, a bibliography of books regarding Duruflé, and black-and-white images of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont, Paris.
